Plateno Group’s Portofino Hotels announced the launch of luxury seaside resort hotel projects in Boracay in the Philippines and the Maldives and that will open in July 2016 and June 2017 respectively.
Portofino Hotel’s 200-room luxury resort hotel in the Maldives will be located on an island cluster formed of five atolls, each island has an area of about eight hectares. The hotel is located only 35 minutes from Male Airport by seaplane.
Portofino Hotels has been expanding its overseas presence in recent years, having set up strategic plans for developments in Asia, Europe and Australia regions especially in the regions covered in the Chinese government’s much touted “one belt one road” infrastructure policy.
Last year, Portofino Hotels made a high-profile opening of a hotel in the tallest building in Laos, the Latsavong Plaza.
One industry observer said Portofino Hotels is showing that it is expanding its regional footprint by opening resorts in the prime holiday locations of two Southeast Asian destinations and also displaying its strong position abroad.
Portofino Hotels said the next step is to unveil its hotel chain projects to consumers in countries like Taiwan and Korea. Portofino Hotels is Plateno Group’s hotel brand for operating luxury five-star hotels overseas. (Translation by David)
