The National Development and Reform Committee has approved the construction of an airport in Chongqing and one in Inner Mongolia. The Chongqing Wushan Civil Airport project will cost RMB1.642 billion (approx: US$265 million) and the Inner Mongolia Wulanchabu Civil Airport project will cost RMB517 million (approx: US$83 million), or RMB2.159 billion (approx: US$348 million) in total.
Chongqing Airport project
The Chongqing Wushan Airport will have a capacity to handle 280,000 passenger throughput and 1,200 ton cargo throughput up to 2020. It will be a Class C airport with a runway of 2,600m long 45m wide and one vertical connecting strip of 165 meter long by 18 meter wide, a five-plane apron, a 3,500sqm terminal, 2,500sqm annex, a 700sqm air traffic control tower, as well as facilities for communications, navigation, meteorological service, fueling and fire rescue.
Chongqing Airport Group is responsible for implementation and management of the project. The committee will open bidding for research, design, construction and management and material supply contracts for the project.
Inner Mongolia Airport project
The Inner Mongolia Wulanchabu Airport will have capacity for 300,000 passenger throughput and 900 ton cargo throughput up to 2020. It will be a class C airport with one 2,600m long 45m wide runway and one 211m long 18m wide vertical connecting strip, a four-plane apron, 3,000sqm terminal, 3,660sqm annex, a 600sqm air traffic control tower, and facilities for communications, navigation, meteorological servicee, fueling and fire rescue.
Wulanchabu Airport and Railway Construction Management is responsible for implementation and management of the project. The committee will open bidding for research, design, construction and management and material supply contracts for the project.(Translation by David)
