After an initial trial run in seven cities, Kuaididache announced the official launch of its No 1 Chauffeur Service in 61 Chinese cities. This is the taxi app’s first product launch since its mega merger with former rival Didi Taxi.
At RMB1.9 per kilometer and RMB0.3 per minute and with no minimum fare for flag fall, the friendly pricing makes it a strong competition to Uber China’s ride-share service.
Kuadidache said No 1 Chauffeur Service mainly targets customers who want to share a ride. Users can find a car owner willing to share a ride and split the cost of the transaction via the No 1 Chauffeur app.
No 1 Chauffeur Service began in the seven cities of Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan and Tianjin on April 2 with Beijing noticeably absent from the service network.
A project manager said: “The service’s network will be expanded to 61 cities to satisfy customer demand for trips in cities with transportation shortages. No 1 Chauffeur Service will ease the prevalent problem of finding a taxi.”(Translation by David)
