NEW YORK—Though online travel agencies often dominate the spotlight, revenue managers shouldn’t forget about global distribution systems. The “robust” channel continues to generate a wealth of bookings and serves as a strong bellwether for future performance, according to Kristi White, director of revenue optimization for TravelClick.
“It’s still continuing to grow. I don’t expect that to change anytime soon,” she said Wednesday during a TravelClick webinar.
Through June 2011, the four GDSs generated 28 million bookings globally. TravelClick projected the year-end tally to hit 50 million.
