Mobility company Splyt Technologies has raised $8 million in Series A funding. Grab, the Southeast Asia-based ground transportation specialist participated in the funding.
Splyt formed a similar partnership with Alipay recently and also works with Ctrip enabling travelers using the apps to book local transport providers.
In a statement, Grab and Splyt say their shared vision is for travelers not to have to download local transportation apps or fall back on hailing taxis.
The partnership already enables travelers to book Grab rides 336 cities in eight countries in Southeast Asia with the two now planning to extend that to other parts of the world.
Splyt is also working to integrate ride-booking into Booking Holding’s online travel platforms. Booking.com's app is scheduled for later this year.
Splyt plans on investing the funding to speed up its expansion in new markets as well as develop its technology.
The company says it has now raised more than $14 million.
