After five years, India has finally reopened its doors to Chinese tourists.
On July 23, the Indian Embassy in China officially announced:
Starting July 24, 2025, Chinese citizens will be eligible to apply for tourist visas to India.
According to an earlier report by MoneyControl, China and India are planning to resume flights from Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata to Lhasa, primarily to accommodate pilgrims traveling to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar.
While India had previously resumed issuing business visas, tourist visa restrictions remained in place, causing significant inconvenience for leisure travelers.
In contrast, China simplified the visa application process for Indian citizens as early as last year and waived certain visa fees.
As of April this year, China had issued more than 85,000 visas to Indian citizens.
