Marriott has introduced its independently-branded upscale hotel the Shanhaitian Resort Sanya to China, following an earlier Chinese debut of its Tribute Portfolio collection last month.

Marriott International has introduced another of its hotel brands to China. The Shanhaitian Resort Sanya has joined the Autograph Collection, Marriott’s group of independently-branded upscale hotels.

Overlooking Dadonghai Bay, the new resort features 199 rooms and 17 suites, five F&B outlets including two restaurants, four swimming pools, a spa, and extensive conference and banqueting facilities including a 500m² ballroom.

This opening expands the Autograph Collection’s Asia Pacific portfolio to five countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, China and the Philippines. Globally, the brand is on track to reach 200 hotels in the next five years.

The launch of the Autograph Collection in China comes just a month after Marriott introduced another “collection” to the country, with the Tribute Portfolio making its Chinese debut in Shanghai in February 2017.

Marriott International introduced in February the Tribute Portfolio, which was originally created by Starwood, to China with the Yuluxe Sheshan, a lakeside resort located in the west of the city.

Yuluxe Sheshan is not a new hotel, but following a multi-million dollar renovation it has been brought into line with Marriott standards.
