The operations center is an administration hub to service Chinese car owners and passengers on Uber China’s platform. It will offer various technology services and will be the center for collecting data on user demands for analysis and research purposes. The center will also be the company’s personnel center.
Uber China’s strategy director Zhen Liu said Uber China will also develop in the development zone a big-data analysis center, a customer experience support center and a new product RD center.
This is the first time Uber build a center of this kind outside of the US. It will be Uber’s largest and most expensive operation center ever built.
Uber has built two operation centers in Chicago and Phoenix. They service over 75% of the US population across 199 cities. On October 8, Uber China announced it would invest RMB6.3 billion to set up in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. Uber also formed a strategic partnership with major insurance firm China Taiping on Oct 28.(Translation by David)
