Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is set to strengthen its Southeast Asia network.

Air China plans to launch scheduled passenger flights between Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on January 13, 2027.

The route will operate daily under flight numbers CA415/CA416, using Airbus A320 aircraft. Flight CA415 will depart Chengdu Tianfu at 6 p.m. and arrive in Hanoi at 7:10 p.m. local time. The return flight, CA416, will depart Noi Bai at 8:20 p.m. local time and arrive in Chengdu at 11:30 p.m. Beijing time.

Air China has never previously operated a route from Chengdu to Vietnam, making Hanoi its first Vietnamese destination from the city.

Hanoi will also become the ninth destination served by Air China’s Southwest China branch in its broader Southeast Asian network, following Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Manila, Phuket, Colombo and Kathmandu.

Over the past two years, Air China has continued to strengthen Chengdu’s international network across its two airports. The carrier has launched or resumed routes to destinations including London Gatwick, Brussels and Almaty, while developing international connections linking Southeast Asia and Europe via Chengdu.

The addition of daily Hanoi flights will further expand Chengdu Tianfu’s connectivity with Southeast Asia, providing another option for passengers traveling between between Europe and Southeast Asia.

Sichuan Airlines and Chengdu Airlines already operate flights between Chengdu and Hanoi. With Air China entering the market with a daily service, the number of carriers competing on the route will increase from two carriers to three.

Air China’s entry comes midway through the 2026/27 winter season. How the carrier differentiates its offering on this short-haul international route, where capacity is already established, will be worth watching.

When Air China announced its plans for the 2026 summer-autumn season, it listed Chengdu–Hanoi as a route to be launched mid-season. The January 13, 2027, launch date now provides a more concrete timeline, suggesting that the earlier plan has moved closer to implementation with a clearer flight schedule.

The inaugural flight date, operating schedule and aircraft type are subject to Air China’s official announcements and the latest information in its booking system.
