Club Med owner reports 31% rise in 2021 revenue

Domestic business volume of Club Med China resorts grew by 57.2% last year.

Fosun Tourism, the leisure-focused travel unit under Chinese conglomerate Fosun International, said its annual revenue rose 31% to RMB 9,262 million (USD 1,455 million) last year. 

The company narrowed its operating loss from RMB 1,682 million in 2020 to RMB 1,435 in 2021. 

Fosun Tourism said it saw early signs of recovery for its businesses across the globe in the second half of 2021. Revenue from resort and destination operations, the largest business segment across the company's revenue sources, climbed from RMB 5,656 million to RMB 6,140 million. 

In the second half of 2021, the business volume of Club Med amounted to RMB 4,639.8 million, representing an increase of 180.1% compared with the same period of 2020, and recovered to 76.9% of the same period of 2019.

During 2021, benifiting from the continuous ramp-up of Club Med Joyview, the company's business in China recorded sound recovery. Domestic business volume of Club Med China resorts grew by 57.2% in 2021 compared to the same period of 2020.
