Beijing will be the most popular destination for travelers during the impending holiday.

Air flight tickets presale for the upcoming May Day holiday is well above bookings for the same holiday in 2019, and is 25 times more than last year's May Day holiday, according to the data provided by Chinese online travel agency platform Qunar to Global Times on Monday.

The May Day holiday this year will last 5 days, according to a government notice issued Monday. OTAs estimated that it might be one of the "hottest" holidays for people going out for a travel in the past few years, as a good number of people have already booked air tickets.

China Eastern Airlines revealed that they has put into use more transport capacity this year to meet rising flight demand, which has exceeded the same period in 2019.

Ticket prices have also shot up due to the estimated large number of domestic travelers during the holiday. Qunar said the average price of flight ticket would increase by about 20% than 2019 level.

Data from another OTA Ctrip shows that Beijing will be the most popular destination for travelers during the impending holiday. The average ticket prices to Kunming in Southwest China's Yunnan Province and from Nanchang in East China's Jiangxi Province increased by 72.5%.

This year's May Day holiday will start from May 1st and end on May 5th. For the flight during April 30th to May 1st from Beijing to Sanya in South China's Hainan Province, tickets for economy class had been sold out, and only business class tickets valued about 10,000 yuan are available, said Qunar.
