Chengdu is the fourth busiest airport in China and benefits from the ‘strong purchasing power’ of the travellers it serves

China Duty Free Group President, Charles Chen has told TRBusiness in an exclusive interview that the company has signed a contract to operate a new 4,103sqm store at the International Departures Hall of Chengdu Airport.

CDFG operates a sprawling duty free empire across China’s hub airports including Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou among many others. Chengdu is the fourth busiest airport in China and benefits from the ‘strong purchasing power’ of the travellers it serves, according to Chen.

“I think you are the first person to find out that last week we got the notice from Chengdu Airport that we won a new contract there in the new departures area,” Chen tells TRBusiness.

“Chengdu is the fourth largest airport in China in terms of traffic, and the purchasing power there is really very strong, so we are really happy with that.”
