Ctrip has recently launched a voice guide service on its platform, integrating the voice presentation service offered by individual tourist attractions and integrated major domestic voice service providers. Through the app, travelers can access the voice introduction of nearly 8,000 attractions in 838 cities of 53 countries.
Ctrip is the first OTA to provide a one-stop voice guide service. Through the Ctrip App, travelers can search specific attractions and access their voice guide service on the in-app page of the attractions’ description. Travelers can listen to three voice guides for a free trial. Paid voice guides will be available for access for a duration of 60 days.
“With the voice introductions in Chinese, Chinese travelers can better understand the culture and features of overseas attractions. It becomes much cheaper for travelers to get information about their destinations, which helps them get a better travel experience,” said Xiaojiang Yu, Ctrip's Vice President and CEO of TTD (Things to do) Business.
Voice guide transaction data show that, to date, the most popular voice guides are those of the Louvre Museum, the Grand Palace in Bangkok, Gardens by the Bay, Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the British Museum, Tokyo Tower, the Colosseum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Sagrada Família in Barcelona and the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine.
It costs an average of only four yuan to get a voice guide of overseas attractions, two yuan for those of domestic destinations and 12 yuan for Italy’s. (Translated by Elena)
