A glance at upcoming ITB China Conference

Leaders to share insights at ITB China Conference include Ctrip chairman James Liang, Phocuswright founder Philip C. Wolf, and executives from China Tourism Academy, Wyndham Hotel Group, Fliggy, Tencent and Meituan.

The 2nd ITB China will be officially launched on May 16-18, 2018 in Shanghai. In addition to the role of a specialized B2B trade fair focusing on outbound tourism in China, it will also bring ITB China Conference full of in-depth insights for all visitors, exhibitors and buyers. 

As a recognized think tank, the Forum will invite business leaders and experts both in China and abroad to share their expertise and ideas on market hotspots in the industry. A valuable opportunity not to be missed! 

Day 1: May 16, 2018

After the exciting opening ceremony of ITB China, a group of distinguished guests will kick off the ITB China Conference. Mr. James Jianzhang Liang, Co-founder & Executive Chairman of the Board at Ctrip; Mr. Eduardo Santander, Executive Director of European Travel Commission; Mr. Leo Liu, President, Greater China, Wyndham Hotel Group; Ms. Yiyi Jiang, Head of International Tourism Research, China Tourism Academy and executives from VisitFinland will serve as keynote speakers at the opening session.

The afternoon sessions will focus on the topics of “Destination” and “Unique Travel”. 

Moderated by Mr. Philip C. Wolf, Founder, Phocuswright Inc., the “Destination” session will feature a panel discussion on “EU-China Tourism Year” (ECTY), during which our panelists from major European destinations will explore how to upgrade the attractiveness of Europe as a whole to Chinese tourists. 

Later, Mr. Steven Shu, CMO, Meituan Dianping; Mr. Shihong Chen, Tourism Industry Director, Tencent Online Media Group, Tencent, and other guests will further probe into the topic of destination marketing. 

Mr. Joseph Wang, Chief Commercial Officer, TravelDaily China, will moderate a panel discussion on “Connecting Destinations with Chinese Millennials”, during which our panelists from Merlin Entertainments, Brazilian Tourism Board, Turismo de Portugal, Israel Tourism Attache and  Austrian National Tourist Office will look at marketing strategies targeting at Chinese millennials. 

At the session of “Unique Travel”, executives from Abercrombie Kent and Lushu as well as Ms. Mei Zhang, Founder & CEO, WildChina, will present interesting keynote speeches on “How to design customized travel products”. ITB China will also work with Qyer to launch the award ceremony of “It’s My World Travel Awards 2018”. 

Day 2: May 17, 2018

The 2nd day of ITB China Conference will consist of four sessions, namely “Travel Tech”, “Online Travel”, “Business Travel” and “MICE”. 

The sessions of “Travel Tech” and “Online Travel” will be presented by executives from Beijing Babel Technology, JPush, Yundijie, WeHotel, WebBeds, Hotelbeds, DerbySoft, Yearth Group, Mafengwo and Haoqiao.com. 

These sessions will be followed by the final and award ceremony of the 2nd “ITB CHINA Startup Award”, which is developed to recognize travel-related startups that have introduced innovative products and solutions over the past year. The winner will have the opportunity to receive a 9sqm booth at ITB China 2019, free of charge. The jury is comprised of industry veterans, including:

Meanwhile, the sessions of “Business Travel” and “MICE” will witness the insights and discussion of panelists from CITS AMEX, CWT, BCD Travel, ICESAP, Finnair, Maritim Hotel, New World Hotels & Resorts, Fanjia and HRS on the topics of innovations in business travel, unmanned services and digital intelligence applications. 

Day 3: May 18, 2018

On May 18, the third day of the Forum, ITB China, Fudan University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University will jointly launch the first “Education and Job Day”. The morning session will include the keynote speech presented by Mr. Yunlong Sun, Project Director of MTA Program at Fudan University, on “Flexibility and constancy in the cultivation of tourism professional”, while Professor Cathy Hsu, Chair Professor of Hospitality and Tourism Marketing, School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will share her ideas on “The Current And Future Of Tourism Education”. 

In addition to expert presentations about hotspots of tourism education and corporate culture development, the afternoon session of Employer Pitch and Candidate Pitch will provide opportunities to both employers and candidates to communicate and interact with each other.
