China Eastern Airlines and its subsidiary Shanghai Airlines announced in a statement on June 16 that the companies will adopt a new agency fee structure for domestic flights offering fixed agent fees by segment and class, starting from July 1, 2016.
Under the new fee structure, the standard agent fees for domestic flights will be RMB 60 for U class, RMB 40 for F/J class, RMB 20 for P/C/D/I class, RMB 15 for W/Y/B/M/E class, RMB 10 for H/K/L/N/R/S/V class and RMB 5 for T/Z/Q class.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued a series of regulations earlier requiring airlines to pay agents fixed fees per ticket. China Eastern’s latest fee structure paying agent fees by segment of each ticket is favorable for agents because a domestic flight ticket may include two segments.
Eight airline companies including China Eastern and Air China released a temporary agent-fee policy on June 7 to replace commission and rebate for domestic flights. (Translated by Jerry)
