China’s 11,037 star-rated hotels generated total revenues of RMB 49.665 billion in the first quarter of 2016. Of which, RMB 21.606 billion or 43.52% was from catering and RMB 21.233 or 42.77% was from rooms, according to a report released by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) on June 14.
The average room rate for star-rated hotels in China during the reporting period was RMB 335.05 per room night, up by 3.05% YoY. Average occupancy rate declined 0.17% YoY to 48.94% and RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) grew 2.88% to RMB 163.98 per room night.
