China Eastern Airlines restored its flagship store on Qunar on June 14, one day after Air China took the lead to reinstate its flagship store on the OTA platform.
While the Air China airfare offerings on Qunar are limited to those in the carrier’s flagship store, the China Eastern fare offerings also include those grabbed from Qunar’s major shareholder Ctrip.com, in addition to those in the carrier’s flagship store.
China’s largest OTA Ctrip also invested RMB 3 billion in China Eastern's A shares through a private placement and Bloomberg reported that the company acquired 3.55% of China Eastern’s stake from the deal in April 2016.
As China Eastern resumed business with Qunar, Qunar has also added to the listing China Eastern’s code-share flights operated by China Southern Airlines. A standard 3% commission is applicable to carriers cross-selling other carriers’ products.
