36Kr reported that children education platform Maitao.com has raised tens of millions of dollars in its B+ round of financing, backed by a listed education institution overseas. The investment will be applied to spread its offline network of its own brand, Maitao Lab.
Maitao.com is launched in 2014 as an education platform targeting children aged 3-12. It offers educational products like Maitao Lab (Natural Science), Maitao Fun, local parent-child activities, long-haul parent-child tours and camp activities. About 40% to 50% of its products are its own operation.
Maitao acquires new customers with low-cost and high-quality courses such as Maitao Lab, and then channels the customers to high-value long-haul tours and camp activities.
Since the beginning of this year, Maitao Lab has issued annual memberships for 499 yuan and physical activity bases. It has by now registered 60,000-70,000 paying users and expanded the number of offline bases from five to 70, covering Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Qingdao and other places.
It plans to increase the number of its operation centers to 300 by the end of 2019.
