Ctrip aims to capitalize on the country’s growing number of outbound tourists with a network of foreign currency exchange outlets.

Ctrip has opened its first batch of locations in the eastern hub of Shanghai with close to 30 different currencies on offer, online outlet Jiemian News reported.

Chinese travelers made 130 million trips abroad last year with USD115.2 billion spent in total, states a recent report from Ctrip and the Chinese Tourism Academy. This equates to a 7% growth in the number of trips and a 5% increase in spending overseas.

Customers can make an appointment online or head directly to the withdrawal service outlets to pick up their currency. The company will gradually expand the network to 30 locations nationwide covering 10 key cities by the end of the year.
