Chinese travelers made 2.6 million trips to the United States in 2015, around 18% more than 2014, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The United States received 77.5 million international visitors in 2015, of which nearly 2.6 million were from China, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Travel & Tourism Office (NTTO).

The visitor number from China increased at double digit for the 11th time in 2015 in the past 12 years, and set a visitation record for the sixth consecutive year. The number of Chinese visitors to the US exceeded one million for the first time in 2011, and it rose to 2.6 million in 2015, up by 18% YoY.

Visitor arrivals from Asia to the US increased 12% during the period, mainly due to increase in visitors from China (excluding Hong Kong), South Korea and India.

New York remained topmost destination for international visitors for 15 years in a row in 2015, and was followed by Miami, Los Angeles, Honolulu and San Francisco. (Translated by Jerry)
