Another acquisition for Amadeus – snapping up Dutch travel technology company Pyton for an undisclosed fee.

Pyton is best known for three core products: Waverunner (web booking engine), Elsy Arres (low cost carrier distribution service) and Hydra (dynamic packaging tool).

The company has amassed a sizeable customer base, mostly in the Benelux region, including Cheaptickets, Vayama, Uniglobe, Center Parcs and Keycamp.

Amadeus says the acquisition will help it bolster its range of services for travel agencies, both off and online.

Luc Pannecoeck, general manager for Amadeus in the Benelux region, adds:

“Pyton’s products are scalable and can be customised to suit the needs of different markets, and will enable us to strengthen our business beyond the Netherlands, which is a technologically advanced market.”

Pannecoeck will now become managing director of Pyton alongside his existing responsibilities at Amadeus.

Pyton CEO Peter Boneschansker will become general manager of the business.

He says:

“By bringing together the expertise and products of Amadeus and Pyton we will have all the right tools to meet the challenges of the changing market and serve the industry better than ever.”

Pyton currently has 31 employees working across three locations: Netherlands, Germany and Poland.

The Pyton deal is the fourth acquisition in two months for Amadeus.

The biggest deal was the $830 million it pad for Navitaire, with undisclosed fees paid for both Hotel Systems Pro in August and Itesso in July.
