Wyndham Hotel Group’s CEO Geoff Ballotti announced at the “2014 Wyndham Hotel Group Asia-Pacific Summit” that the number of the group’s hotels in the Asia-Pacific region has already reached 846 hotels with 760 of these hotels in China. As a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation, Wyndham Hotel Group currently operates 7,542 hotels with 15 hotel brands in 69 countries.
Mr. Ballotti said that in the next 3-5 years the number of Wyndham Hotel Group’s hotels in China will reach 2,000 hotels. In 2014 they will open 95 new hotels in China, 2 in India, and 1 each in the Philippines, Korea and Australia.
In 2014 Wyndham Hotel Group has opened new hotels under its Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Microtel, Ramada, and Super 8 brands in the Asia-Pacific region. Wyndham has announced in September that they will launch the TRYP brand in China. The plan is to first introduce the brand at gateway cities like Shanghai and vacation resorts like Hainan.
In their overall expansion Wyndham Hotel Group will open 80% of their new hotels in smaller cities outside of the major cities such as Changzhou, Enping, Foshan, Wanning, Kunshan, Dezhou, and Yongzhou etc.(Translation by David)
