Chinese airlines carry over one million passengers per day during the National Day Holiday

During the seven day National Day Holiday of 2014 Chinese airlines carried passengers on a total of 8.15 million trips or over a million trips per day. On the 1st of October a new record was set at 1.25 million trips.

The data shows that the average load factor at the Haikou, Sanya, Xishuang Banna airports has reached 85% during holidays. Lhasa has an average load factor of over 90%. Beihai, Lijiang, Chengdu, Harbin, Urumqi, and Shenyang airports have the average load factors of 80%.

Outbound travel is also on the rise. During the holiday there was up to 1,200 international flights operating in China. Flights to Taiwan from the mainland had an average load factor of 95%.

During this year’s National Day Holiday China’s domestic airlines flew over 62,000 flights, an increase of 13.1% from last year’s holiday. Besides 10,000 scheduled flights being operated by Chinese airlines per day, 4100 additional flights were added during the peak time and at some popular cities. The number of seats being offered has reached over 13.2 million during the entire holiday.(Translation by David)
