Tourist attractions in Beijing may now receive up to 50% of their daily maximum capacity, while visitors must book time-slots in advance.

Starting from Monday, travel agencies and online tourism companies in Beijing are permitted to resume trans-provincial group tours. Meanwhile, tourism companies are still prohibited from organizing tours groups to, and receiving tour groups from, medium- and high-risk areas for COVID-19 outside of Beijing.

The news was announced by Zhou Weimin, an official at the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, during the city's regular press conference on COVID-19 on July 20.

According to Zhou, tourism to and from overseas will remain suspended, while tours to flood-stricken areas are not permitted.

In addition, tourist attractions in Beijing may now receive up to 50% of their daily maximum capacity, while visitors must book time-slots in advance.

According to the updated instructions on epidemic prevention and control for travel agencies, hotels, tourist attractions and rural tourism companies, relevant preventative measures must be strictly implemented in tourist destinations.

Specifically, hotels, B&Bs and tourist attractions in the city shall not admit tourists who have travelled from medium- and high-risk areas or abroad within the past 14 days, whilst those from low-risk areas must present a green health code to gain entrance. Staggered visits with appointments should be adopted in order to avoid risks from clustering.

According to the press conference, indoor venues at tourist sites in Beijing shall open to visitors with bookings in a staggered manner.
