July 11, 2007: American Airlines Vacations - a division of American Airlines that provides customers the ability to purchase air, hotel, car and activities together - launched its new, redesigned Web site that enhances the customer’s shopping and booking experience on AAVacations.com. The enhancements provide customers with convenient and flexible options when customizing vacation plans.

The new and improved site gives customers the ability to view and compare individual trip components such as air, hotel, car and activities like theme park tickets or scuba diving and then see how their choices affect the pricing. The new technology powering the Web site will reduce operating costs while enabling additional online functionality. Customers will also have access to improved hotel and destination information that makes researching trip components that fit their needs and budgets even easier.

“Our customers told us they wanted an easy and convenient way to plan and book their vacation travel and with enhancements to AAVacations.com we’re delivering that,” said Suzanne Rubin, President - American Airlines Vacations. “In addition, the improvements to AAVacations.com are another example of American’s ongoing strategic investment in services and products to improve the overall customer experience and deliver the choices and value travelers want.”

Because it is airline owned, American Airlines Vacations is able to leverage American’s scheduled air service, providing customers with extensive flight frequencies on a global network. American Airlines Vacations also differentiates its product from competitors by offering customers the benefit of redeeming frequent flyer miles for allcomponents of their vacation getaway - including sightseeing activities and pre-trip waivers as well as hotel and car arrangements. A minimum of 500 miles per transaction is all that is needed, and the miles can be used in combination with traditional payment options. AAdvantage members can also earn 1,000 AAdvantage bonus miles for each vacation purchased online at aavacations.com. From now until Aug. 31, 2007, AAdvantage customers will earn an additional 1,000 bonus miles for their online purchase.

Most vacation services - including air travel, hotel, car rental and other vacation activities offered by American Airlines Vacations are individual components which allows travelers to design their vacations to suit their unique needs and budgets. American Airlines Vacations offers vacation getaways at cost-competitive rates, so travelers know they are getting a great value.

Customers typically achieve savings by purchasing components of a vacation together, and the practice of purchasing bundled or customized vacations is a growing market. According to PhoCusWright’s U.S. Online Travel Overview Sixth Edition from December 2006, sales of online travel packages on the Web were projected to exceed $7 billion in 2006, a 33 percent increase over 2005 and a nearly 100 percent increase over 2004. These latest Web site enhancements underscore American Airlines Vacations’ focus to increase its competitive advantage and grow its market share.
