The new capital brings the total invested in the U.S.-based company to $40.5 million.

A collection of heavyweight venture capital groups have backed Hipcamp with a $25 million investment round.

Leading the Series B round is Andreessen Horowitz's Cultural Leadership Fund, with Yes VC also participating for the first time.

Existing supporters coming back for more are Benchmark Capital, August Capital and O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures.

The new capital brings the total invested in the U.S.-based company to $40.5 million - coming via the latest round, a $9.5 million Series A in late-2017, plus a string of seed rounds between 2014 and 2016.

The idea behind Hipcamp is that it connects landowners of private land with recreational vehicle owners and campers.

It also include some traditional lodging options.

The funding will be used to expand the marketplace of hosts and owners, the company says.
