Tencent aims to digitize Beijing Tourism Group’s 7,000 offline businesses

Tencent and iClick will bring in their experience in gaming, marketing, and smart retail to help Beijing Tourism step up its digital game in operation, big data analysis, and its own marketing service.

Chinese internet giant Tencent has entered into a strategic agreement with Beijing Tourism Group, Chinese tech media outlet Lanjing TMT reported on Monday.

Under this agreement, Tencent, together with Nasdaq-listed online marketing company iClick, will export their digital capability to Beijing Tourism to transform 7,000 bricks-and-mortar locations that span dining, hotels, shopping, entertainment, transportation, and travel businesses.

Tencent and iClick will bring in their experience in gaming, marketing, and smart retail to help Beijing Tourism step up its digital game in operation, big data analysis, and its own marketing service.

The three parties will also explore technology application in other areas including membership services, face recognition, and mobile payment.

This cooperation is in line with Tencent’s business-facing strategy.
