Thomas Cook Group, one of the world's leading leisure travel groups, and Hainan Provincial Tourism Development Commission, have signed a strategic partnership to help promote and develop Sanya into an international tourist destination.
The strategic partnership will initially focus on jointly promoting Sanya in the UK market through an integrated sales and marketing plan encompassing:
* a marketing campaign to raise the awareness of Sanya as a tourist destination in the UK;
* the creation, promotion and sale of travel packages for Sanya targeted at UK holidaymakers;
* the development of inbound tourism services in Sanya to service international travellers.
The agreement of the strategic partnership coincides with the first direct intercontinental flight between Sanya and the UK, operated by China Southern Airline which arrived in Heathrow on Thursday 12 July from Sanya Phoenix International Airport.
