Income from tourism reached 549.4 billion yuan (HK$644.57 billion) for the first seven days of the National Day Golden Week holiday, with a total of 663 million domestic tourists.
The China National Tourism Administration said the number of domestic tourists was 42 million on October 7, bringing income of 32.9 billion yuan on that day.
The authority forecast the number of domestic tourists for the eight-day holiday would reach 710 million, a 10 percent year-on-year increase. Income will rise 12.2 percent to 590 billion yuan.
Meanwhile, mainland visitor arrivals in Macau grew 9.6 percent in the first seven days to 647,300 compared with last year. The number of visitors from all over the world reached 844,500, an increase of 11.6 percent.
